By helping children living in such extreme poverty we can enable them to experience the fullness of life God offers.

A World Vision Experience

Journey to Jamaa introduces you to a new kind of family—one that embraces children in need all over the world. You’ll experience poverty through the eyes of two real-life children from Uganda. And you'll have a chance to respond, expanding your church's family through World Vision child sponsorship. Journey to Jamaa is more than a story and response. . .

It’s a worship experience.

Journey to Jamaa takes place during the worship service, bringing home the reality

that worship is something you do with your whole being—heart, mind, hands, and

feet. Singing praise to God, uniting with believers around the world, and coming

alongside children in need are all acts of worship.

It’s a narrative parable.

Journey to Jamaa uses film to tell the story of two real-life children, Derick and

Margaret, who make a harrowing trek from Kampala to Kasangombe in a heartbreaking

bid to overcome poverty and experience hope. Their journey represents

that of countless children like them—children we can help by worshiping with our

hearts, minds, hands, and feet.

It’s experiential.

Journey to Jamaa invites each participant to learn more about poverty by personally

experiencing the story of one character from the film. You’ll also learn about the

needs of children around the globe and how World Vision is helping children, families,

and communities experience life in all its fullness.

It’s life-changing.

Journey to Jamaa is a new way to worship, drawing you closer to God as the whole

world becomes your sanctuary. And as you worship with your whole being—heart,

mind, hands, and feet—you will forever change the lives of children in need.

When you invite World Vision to host Journey to Jamaa in your church you will be presented with an opportunity to respond, an opportunity to love the people who Jesus loves: children. Jesus Christ is asking us as His church to take care of the poor, to feed His sheep, to take care of His lambs, to comfort the hurting, to comfort the grieving. Will you allow God to challenge your perspective on people? Will you allow God to open your eyes to His family, His jamaa?
